T-Mobile is looking for a customer-obsessed, analytical, and creative Systems Reliability Engineer for the T-Mobile Marketing Solutions (TMS) group within Emerging Businesses. Our team is changing the way we think about data and how it can be leveraged to solve new problems. TMS's mission is to create new solutions in the advertising space utilizing T-Mobile network data, retail, and platform assets. You will be a part of the core engineering team providing thought leadership, implementation and ongoing support of our cloud based infrastructure. You will be part of a full stack engineering team but called upon to provide your expertise around infrastructure engineering. You will be expected to design and build the next generation of infrastructure in partnership with your team.

What you'll do in your role.

• Creates new designs, architectures, standards, repeatable processes and methods for delivering software faster, better, and cheaper, and managing operations better, resulting in better customer experience.
Technology and System
• Demonstrates fluency in emerging DevOps-centric automation tools and technologies for CI/CD, configuration management, etc.
• Build and test tools for environment management and infrastructure provisioning.
• Supports infrastructure used by data science teams for Spark clusters, Snowflake, AutoML, etc.
• Delivers software to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of TMS' services.
• Creates, manages, and uses dashboard for continuous monitoring, alerting and health check of applications, and the underlying infrastructure, improving the quality of services using the monitoring feedback.
• Contributes to future improvement of software delivery processes and operations, e.g., data pipelines, data warehouses, machine learning and use of microservices with containerization.

The experience you'll bring.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering preferred
  • 5+ years as a Software Engineer Relevant experience.
  • 3+ years in a DevOps or SRE Role Relevant experience
  • Experience in one or more of: Javascript, Python, SQL, Spark, or linux shell scripting.
  • Experience in Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery tools, such as, GitHub, GitLab, Shippable, etc., and other automation tools.
  • Experience with DevOps tools, such as Terraform.
  • Experience in APM tool, like, AppDynamics, logging tool, like Splunk.
  • Experience in Containerization, AWS ECS, AWS EKS, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Experience working in an AWS (required) or Azure (preferred) cloud environment

Managers (at least mine) actually listened to and advocated for their employees. Great pay. Nice perks. Good culture -- people didn't seem miserable.


As with any big company, can take a while for things to get done. Lots of layers, etc. But definitely moves faster than other big companies I've worked for.

Advice to Management

Don't advance those mid- to senior mgrs who just go through the motions. Do more to keep smart, talented people on board.
