The device and supply chain organization is responsible for $10B+ annual spend on sourcing devices for T-Mobile, including T-Mobile and Metro PCS brands, managing over 60M devices on the network, as well as TMUS device technology innovations, forward logistics fulfilling 18k+ retail stores with phones, tablets, IoT devices, and accessories, to enable T-Mobile growth, and reverse logistics and repair operations for highest efficiency in T-Mobile supply chain.
We are currently seeking a brilliant strategic leader to lead the Device Strategy & Analytics team. You will be leading a team of four highly talented Director and Senior Strategy Managers advising senior leaders of TMUS and D&SC executive leaders.

What you'll do in your role.

Your key accountabilities include:
  • Setting guidance and guardrails for T-Mobile, both Magenta and MetroPCS device roadmaps to deepen technology penetration, maximize network efficiency, enhance customer experience, introduce device innovations to TMUS portfolio; while delivering financial goals
  • Establishing and monitoring device portfolio performance to ensure TMUS has the most vibrant, diversified, and exciting device portfolio
  • Explore, evaluate, and drive success in IoT and other emerging device and accessory categories and services
  • Consulting key OEM (Apple, Samsung, LG etc.) contract negotiations to maximize value creation for TMUS
  • Being the key leader in D&SC organization to Partner with T-Mobile marketing, commercial, retail, and customer care teams to drive alignment and success in T-Mobile device and supply chain opportunities

The work your team delivers will routinely being presented to the SLT and other senior leaders in the company. Your impact will be materialized through solid analytical frameworks and financial models to guide executive decisions and drive enterprise alignment.
A successful candidate will need to have the following qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experiences and skills in framing unstructured business problems with strategic, operational, and financial elements into executable strategic analyses; driving change with the results across a large enterprise
  • 5+ years experience in managing strategy and analytics teams in Fortune 500 corporations
  • Excellent executive level communication skills, including ability to present strategy analytics results in a highly polished, succinct forms, and ability to influence senior leaders, peers, and other organization members. 3 years plus experience in creating senior executive level, focused presentations in MS PowerPoint
  • 5+ years experience and domain knowledge in one or more of the following (or related) areas: wireless, subscription based business models (e.g. wireless, cable), network technologies; devices features, trends, technologies; device financing and servicing programs like warranty, insurance, pricing
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative discipline, preferably Industrial Engineering, and Masters/PhD Degree in Operations Research, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Finance or MBA preferred
  • Demonstrated skills in one or more of the following areas: data analysis/visualization, financial modeling, forecasting, and statistical modeling, mathematical/computer programming
  • Deep expertise in MS Excel. Preferred understanding and experience in data analytics
  • Flexible, self-starter, and comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment
  • Desire for a high level of responsibility and ownership and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Desire to work in a team-oriented environment

Managers (at least mine) actually listened to and advocated for their employees. Great pay. Nice perks. Good culture -- people didn't seem miserable.

Cons

As with any big company, can take a while for things to get done. Lots of layers, etc. But definitely moves faster than other big companies I've worked for.

Advice to Management

Don't advance those mid- to senior mgrs who just go through the motions. Do more to keep smart, talented people on board.
